Hi. I’m Ky

I’m Ky Fetters and I like to make stuff. I was born and raised in Alaska where we live in igloos and ride polar bears to school. Haha, I’m just kidding.

I’m an artist

I was all about art growing up. I’d always be doodling around my notes, usually The Legend of Zelda stuff or dragon-type things.

And I build stuff

I built a tiny house after college and before long it became my studio. The bathroom area is now an oxygen concentrator room, and the kitchen is a laser engraving station. The living room is a small machine shop complete with a lathe and mill; the back corner, a lampworking (glassblowing) area. Oh, and there’s a spot in the garage for metalsmithng stuff too. What can I say? I have a lot of hobbies.

But i think they’re all a little bit connected. For example, I could create a nice glass pendant or stone, design the glass stone to be wire wrapped into a pendant or the focal point for a fabricated silver piece. Take the knife I just created and mark the blade or engrave a memorable design. All of these different hobbies can build off of each other creating something so special, unique, and personal.

MetalSmithing

I got into metalsmithing around high school. My school had an exchange program going on and I became good friends with the student that came. The host mom of that student had her own garage studio that I got to play and help her out in. (talk about an argentium class she took me to and I made my first ring) Going into college I took a metalsmithing class and got introduced to wire wrapping and centrifugal casting.

Sculpting

I took a sculpting class when i was in college. The professor was really cool and

Glass Blowing

The student that showed me wire wrapping for the first time was also a glass blower. He took me to a couple of his sessions and I was immediately hooked—I had to try it. The only trouble was I didn’t know any one that was offering a class. After I found a guy in Talkeetna,
